Jorge Olortegui is a New York City based Cinematographer working in English and Spanish. Jorge's main interests as Cinematographer are narratives, commercials and music videos.
Jorge Olortegui was born and raised in Lima, Peru until the age of 11. He completed the International Baccalaureate Program and received his BFA in Film and TV Production with a Minor in Psychology at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 2001. Jorge also studied in the 35mm Cinematographer's Workshop at FAMU in Prague, Czech Republic and completed training for Camera Assistants with the IATSE, International Cinematographers Guild Local 600.
As a freelancer, Jorge has enhanced his craft as a Cinematographer by working his way through the Camera and Electrical department. Credited as a Camera Assistant, Gaffer, Electric and Grip, Jorge has worked alongside top Directors of Photography for such clients as Levi's, McDonald's, Fox Searchlight, Nickelodeon and CBS. Jorge has also freelanced as an Editor for such clients as MTV, Fuse and PBS, developing a critical eye for shooting with Post Production in mind.
Through it all, Jorge Olortegui has developed his own sense of camera placement, movement and lighting from his experiences in all levels of the film industry. As a Cinematographer, Jorge has photographed numerous narratives, commercials and music videos which have been showcased in Film Festivals, DVDs, Internet and Television.
